I think you've nailed it. They're trying to keep us from building the guillotines, but at the same time, they want to push their regressive social agenda onto us, and they can't figure out why weren't all falling for it. Liberals, aka "white moderates" will be the US's downfall. They will always side with capitalism/fascism. MLK warned us about them and then they killed him. Civil rights were fine, but when he went after the ruling/capital class he had to be stopped. He saw capitalism as the tool of the oppressors and he was right.
Careful about citing Adorno. He did a great job of describing mass culture and its mediocrity. However he and Horkheimer both collaborated with the CIA on multiple instances. As did Hannah Ardendt and Herbert Marcuse... Yet, that cover photo of your story is so funny... + nice read!
